Computers for Councillors Policy Policy No: 1.06a Printable Version The purpose of the Computers for Councillors Policy is to ensure that computers used for Council business are compatible with the Council’s system, to protect internal Council systems from viruses and malware and to simplify management and maintenance. The policy also ensures acceptable use of Council equipment by Councillors. SCOPE This policy affects Councillors that have been supplied equipment to enable them to carry out Council business and IT staff that are required to support and maintain the equipment. POLICIES 1. The Fake Chicken Company will provide "notebook" computers for Councillors to use at meetings, conferences and at home for the purposes of performing their Council duties.
2. The Computers supplied by Council to Councillors are for business use only and must be used in a responsible and ethical manner. Councillors must abide by the Acceptable Use Policy.
3. Maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades to the equipment will only be carried out by IT Helpdesk staff.
4. A suitable dial-up modem and printer will also be included to enable Councillors to work at home.

6. All equipment is to be returned to Council when a Councillor stops providing services to the Council.
7. Remote connection to Council systems is subject to the provisions of the Remote Access Policy, Firewall Management Policy and Network Management Policy. Councillors must also read and understand the Computer Systems and Equipment Use Policy and sign the Acceptable Use Policy prior to the equipment being issued.
