PURPOSE

 

The purpose of the Legal Compliance Policy is to ensure that The Fake Chicken Company staff understand the implications of the legislation pertaining to Privacy, Confidentiality, Copyright, Intellectual Property, Misrepresentation and other relevant legislation in respect to information and information systems.  

 

SCOPE

 

This policy affects all users of computer systems and networks owned or managed by The Fake Chicken Company.

1.1    Confidentiality

 

1.1.1    The Fake Chicken Company software, documentation and all other types of internal information must not be sold or otherwise transferred to any external party for any purposes other than business purposes expressly authorised by the IT Manager.

1.2    Intellectual Property Rights and Copyright

 

1.2.1  All intellectual property (including patents, copyrights, trade marks, inventions, designs or other intellectual property) created and/or developed by company employees while at work or while using company equipment is the exclusive property of the company and must be recorded in an asset register.

1.3    Licencing Issues

 

1.3.1  Third party software in the possession of The Fake Chicken Company must not be copied unless such copying is consistent with relevant license agreements and the IT Manager has previously approved the copying or copies are being made for business continuity planning purposes.

1.4    Disclaimers, Misrepresentation and Defamation

 

1.4.1   The  Fake Chicken  Company  information published or disseminated  in any way should have the appropriate corporate disclaimers appended so that the recipient of the information is aware of the limitations of use of the information provided.

1.5    Privacy

 

1.5.1   Information  held  in all  computer systems  and networks  owned  or  managed  by  The Fake Chicken Company are subject to the provisions of the Privacy Act 1993 and users should be aware of their obligations in respect of managing and using the information and providing information to third parties.

 

            Explanation

         It is important that staff are aware of their responsibilities under the Privacy Act and that information stored in The Fake Chicken Company’s information systems is used and managed in accordance with the requirements of this legislation.  This policy will affect staff giving out information to customers, business associates and ratepayers, using the information in conducting day to day The Fake Chicken Company business and also those managing the data.
